2010 Classic Grullo Champagne Colt - AQHA # 5288825
International Champagne Horse Registry (ICHR) # 777 Foundation Quarter Horse Association (FQHA) # 3393 (96.48%) |
Extremely rare champagne grullo (aka classic dun champagne) by son of High Brow Hickory and out of granddaughter of Doc's Prescription ![]() We are excited to own this one-of-a-kind performance bred stallion prospect! Kory has color tested to be not only a classic champagne (true black base coat) but also to carry a dun gene (grulla). There are literally only a handful of AQHA horses with this unique and beautiful color combination in the world, and Kory has a top notch performance pedigree to back up his amazing color too! He is also tested HERDA, GBED, and PSSM N/N (negative, not a carrier of the disorders). His sire is a grullo own son of High Brow Hickory (by Doc's Hickory), out of a producing daughter of Peppys San Two (by Peppy San). Kory's dam is a gorgeous champagne Doc's Prescription granddaughter, with Doc Bar right on her papers. You just don't find classic champagnes, let alone champagne grullos, with bloodlines like this! In fact, we are so pleased with Kory, we reserved his 2011 full sister in utero (Kacy our new classic champagne filly) and have requested and been promised first option to buy any future siblings as well (thanks Sara and David, we LOVE this cross!!) We are anxious to see how he matures, but so far Kory has great conformation and a fabulous disposition; he's quite a character and loves people and attention and just generally goofing around. He's also already got great size, and should finish a solid 15.0-15.1 hh at maturity (his rear is already measuring this high at just over a year old!) We're hoping to get Kory's training started in 2012, and he may be standing at stud to the public in 2013. A huge thank you to our good client Mary Kay in Iowa who is raising him for us and sending updates and pictures as he grows. We have a few nice mares already picked out to test breed with him, so his first foal crop may be arriving in 2013 if all goes to plan. Please join us in watching this special colt's future unfold! :) |
