ORION IS GOING TO CANADA AS A STALLION PROSPECT!!
Orion is ready to start riding and/or breeding mares soon. We simply have no mares, nor available finances, left to support his stallion career any longer. He's a one-of-a-kind that could be an amazing producer for the right new home! He has genetic tested to be Homozygous for the Black Gene, in addition to his already rare and desirable Grullo Champagne color (champagne plus dun genes, on a black base coat). He would produce only dark-pointed foals (no sorrels/chestnuts), at least 75% of which should be dilutes (carrying champagne, dun, or both dilutions). Orion is also tested/confirmed to be Negative for LWO (the lethal white overo gene), so is a safe cross even for overo paint mares.

He has a gorgeous head and neck, nice muscling and conformation, incredible color, and is very easy-going, friendly and good-minded. He is dual registered with AQHA and ICHR - and is currently the ONLY champagne grulla (aka "classic dun") homozygous black gene QH known to exist in the WORLD! This unique stallion should produce some beautiful, colorful, and athletic foals that could go a number of directions successfully. We expect him to finish around 15.1 hh, and suspect he and his foals will have the versatility to excel in a variety of events - from roping to barrels/poles, possibly even Western or English Pleasure/Hunter/Jumper.

Orion's sire is a champagne son of Cooke County Etc, who was injured early in his show career but whose offspring have over $63,000 in NCHA/NRCHA/NRHA earnings. Cooke is known for producing good looking versatile/capable offspring. Orion's sire is a working ranch/roping horse in Canada, and also a grandson of Leo Tolo (ROM Performance, Race Money Earner). Orion's dam is a granddaughter of both Chick's Leo Gan (Speed Index=82, Race Money Earner) as well as AQHA Champion/Superior Halter/ROM Performance Skedadle Chick (62 Halter points, 24 Performance points). Both are direct sons of AQHA Champion/World Champion Sire Three Chicks (SI=100, Race Winnings=$22,624, 23 Halter points, 2 Performance points). Other well-known foundation QH greats and performers on Orion's 4-generation pedigree include AQHA Hall of Famer/World Champion Sire Leo, World Champion/Superior Halter Sire The Ole Man (SI=100, ROM Performance, Race Winnings=$21,156), AQHA Champion/ROM Performance McLeo Bars (SI=85, 16 Halter points, 12 Performance points), Otoe Maiden (SI=95, ROM Performance, Race Money Earner), and Lady Gann (SI=95, Race Money Earner, 3 Halter points).

What a sweet, lovey guy! He and my husband are going to miss eachother...
